IE acting up

For specs, see my sig.

IE (v 6.0) isn't loading a lot of pictures or buttons on web pages correctly now. I often the the white square with a red x in the middle. And also, java applets are not loading at all. I just get a blank white space with a little bitty icon in the top left corner.

Now I installed SP1 for IE 6.0 last week. But it didn't start doing this until yesterday.

What should I do?

There a lot of banners mine won't load up either. It just says "action cancelled" where the ad should be. I have ZoneAlarm, but the ad blocker is totally disabled. I enabled it for a short time more than two weeks ago, but disabled it as soon as I found out it was not allowing animated GIF's and smileys. I also have Earthlink popup blocker (I don't have Earthlink anymore, but Comcast), but I've had it for like two months and this never happened before. So I don't think it's that either. Everything works fine in Netscape 7.0, but I'd rather use IE because Netscape doesn't load VBulletin right and I like to go to a site that uses VBulletin quite frequently.

I don't understand.

are you using a custom HOST file or other ad filtering software? that could block banner ads and pictures depending on the server that the information is coming from.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so that's probably not it.

I've also ran Ad-Aware and gotten rid of what little spyware I had. Still no luck.

For the applets, install Sun JRE 1.4.1.. IE6 wouldn't load/recognize the applet I have on a site I maintain... the JRE loads in the background and handles all applets without issue. Try doing a hard-clear of the browser cache (Ctrl-F5) to ensure it's refreshing... may resolve the red X problem if those are cached...

Try looking here:

MSN Windows XP Group

I am having the same problem and some people have listed some ways to fix the problem. Some people had a problem with NNorton Internet Security/Personal Firewall and with the Kazaa Lite hosts file.

I have Kazaa Lite so I am going to remove it from the system to see if that resolves the problem.

UPDATE
Damn. Still doing it. Annoying as hell problem. Oh Well, I am starting to use mozilla, more and more...

i wouldnt suggest using Sun's JRE...i used it for a little while but its ssoooo much slower than MS own java virtual machine
