HI
Just being curious.
Ie 8 is out and was wondering if anyone here is using it and more important how stable is it?
I am more concerned about stability and lack of problems then speed.

I have it installed on three systems, one of which is a laptop. No problems at all noted.

I switched from Google Chrome to IE8 and I'm quite happy.

It's running great on Vista Business (on my Laptop), and Windows 7 (64bit) on my desktop.

It's generally an improvement, but sometimes the friggin thing freezes up when I open a new tab through a link from an existing tab, especially if that new tab involves something like youtube or a gif.

It feels slower than IE7 on my rig running win XP. (But I only use it for hotmail and netbanking)

Yeah, it acts a bit "odd" for me also sometimes.
Sometimes if i open a new tab and do a search, it just searches until it times out.
But doing the same search in a tab thats already open and it works just fine.

It doesnt do this ALL the time, but its annoying when it does.

Pghpooh,

Hi my name?s Feran and I am working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to help provide assistance to folks about their Internet Explorer.

You can learn more about the final IE8 by checking out the Microsoft website: http://www.microsoft.com/windo...ult.aspx?ocid=ie8_sm_b
or IEBlog: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/ . If you decide you want to get it, you can download it from the first link as well.

IE8 has a ton of news features such as web slices and accelerators which help make your browsing experience easier and more efficient. It also has enhanced security and reliability features ? more than previous versions.
This is also a good site to give you a better idea of IE8 and see how it differs from IE7 http://www.ie8demos.com/tryit/

I hope this helps!

Feran

Just a note .. MS Update and Windows Update do not open with IE8 on some systems.
Not sure if it is the coding in the MS or Windows Update progs calling the wrong URL
or if it may be due to sites being in or not being in (and should be added) to the Secure Sites List)

This is using XP Home with SP3 and all updates to date.

Hmmm! I just did www.time.gov wirelessly (Sprint)with my laptop using Vista Ultimate 32, and it opened immediately - no delay at all. In general, I find it as fast or faster then IE7. Go figure. I guess it depends on how you use it.

what java runtime version you installed? mine takes long or even doesnt load at all, the real time clock area shows a java logo and a bar that doesnt move sometimes, in other java website, it takes minutes to load a simple java game, while it keeps loading, my ie8 window doesnt respond at all until it finishes loading, cant even close the browser by clicking the "x", have to use task manager to close

edit: i finally made it work by checking "use direct connection" in java under control panel, is it safe to use this setting? default is "use browser settings"
