IE 8

HI
I see IE 8 can be downloaded now.

Can I go back to IE7 if the new version gives me problems or if I just don't like it for now?

Yeah, it's uninstallable. You'd find it among your installed Windows updates as Windows Internet Explorer 8.

HI
Sorry I am slow to get back here.
Thanks for the help.
I will wait a while before updating to it letting more people find thse last minute bugs that come out when the masses use it.

Yes, it can be uninstalled. However - I just converted two desktops, one XP and one Vista to IE8, and a Vista laptop. All three are performing very well - no problems. IE8 is very cutomizable, and with little effort, you can make it almost the same as IE7. In all of my systems it loads faster than IE7.

Yes, I even went back too it.
IE8 kept taking forever to open for some reason.
Are you running Spybot S&D by any chance? Try these steps...worked for me to get rid of the nasty delay when starting IE8.

1. Open regedit
2. Go to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap
3. Delete the following sub-folders: Domains, EscDomains, Ranges
4. Go to this key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\P3P
5. Delete the sub-folder History
6. Repeat steps 2-5, but in HKLM.

WOW That speeded my IE8 WAY UP.
I don't have Spybot installed, so I didn't know if it would work, but it did. (I may have had SD installed previously and uninstalled it, don't remember)
Could you tell me how you found this fix? I was wondering if it will affect my security, etc.
However, I would still like you to know how AWESOME this fix is. I was actually going to try a clean install to see if that fixed my ie8 speed problem, but no more.

Glad to hear it worked for you! Kind of a nuisance that we have to go through a bunch of steps to get it working like it should, but whatever.

It took me literally 2 seconds of Googling to find...
