ie 6.0 freezes in xp

everytime i use it the green status bar goes green and it stays liek that for 10-30 seconds as if it froze but then its okay..during the freeze everything else is working fine..plz help

running xp pro

i've tried updating everything i could but still not luck. netscape works fine but ie seems to be having some issues. the green status bar will start adn completely finish but then once the bar turns all green it locks up or freezes the brower window..this is getting very frustrating. but thx.
