It's a joke. It's humor. The person making it set out to bash Obama and glorify Putin in every way, using selective images of everything. All the images of Obama are cherry picked to make him look silly, and all the images of Putin are cherry picked to make him look like a bad ass.

Why should the pictures of their respective wives be any different? It follows the exact same pattern.

So tell me what it means for it to "not be acceptable" ? And would you be saying it if it was comparing Putin to Clinton and the image they used of Hillary for that comparison was this:

Exactly. Back when I was a lib, I remember being mightily amused by plenty of Clinton based jokes about him being a total cad, sleazy guy constantly looking to hit anything with a pulse - loved Conan O'Brien's Clinton bit with the super-imposed lips talking, etc.

I was a starry-eyed Obama supporter from '04 to '12 (I was one of those who was keenly aware of his speech in '04 at the DNC that year, and was actually hoping from that point on that he'd end up president, during years where hardly anyone knew who he was. My knowledge of him grew by listening to Air America which I did religiously in its early days) - and while I cannot remember really clearly whether I was receptive to jokes about him when they were done in fairly normal politician mocking style, I actually think I was more sensitive about anyone mocking him. I would interpret just about anything directed at him as "racist" etc.

Which is not to say a lot of stuff directed at him isn't in fact racist, there has certainly been plenty of that.

But I think Obama voters are really insecure about him and feel the need to white knight for him pretty damned hard. I know I did.

You keep saying that. But the history of this thread reveals the inconsistency.

The common retort is "I don't want political or unfunny posts!" but if that were true, you'd complain about all the political or unfunny jokes. Or at least a random distribution of them.

The fact that there is a VERY specific category of jokes that always draw out the same complaints is the tell.
