Idiots at SEARs

Lifer

I bought my Michelin tires from Sears, and they rock. Sears also fixes leaks, rotates and balances them for free no matter which Sears I purchased the tires at, so I take the car there for the free stuff. My suspension is totally shot, and my BMW rides like a boat or a 1970?s Lincoln. The guy in the work bay showed me that the read struts were OK, and really all I needed was the front. I love this, because I had 2 other places try to tell me that I needed front and rear replaced $1300, as opposed to $500 for front only. I was trilled ? this guy oozes competence and honesty. So, I decided I would have them do the work. So, I go up front to the inside area, and he tells the girl at the register what parts to order so they can fix my car. She is on the phone with the parts department and orders a whatchamacallit, and he says no he needs a whatchamajigger, and she orders the whatchamathinggy, and he says no get a whatchamajigger, and she says whatchamajiggy, and he says no a whatchamajigger. I am thinking, oh sh!t, she is going to order the wrong part, and it is going to cost more. She tells me it is all-cool, and sets up a morning appointment to bring the car back. Cool. I do it. So, this morning I drop the car off and I have a co-worker pick me up, and they tell me the car will be ready in 2 hours (Lunch time) so I figure I will just get a ride there during lunch hour and return with the car fixed. At noon I called Sears. Surprise, Surprise, they ordered the wrong part, and had to order a new one from BMW ? It will be there tomorrow. So, I said, well I will just come get my car and bring it back tomorrow. They say, well it is all apart now, we will have to call you when we have it back together. Is there any way to avoid this sort of crap?

That is Sears for you. Good quality items, good prices (especially since they price-match), and usually knowledgable employees. However, those employees who actually enter the parts into the computers are idiots.

Here is my ongoing frustration with Sears idiots:
[*]Purchased fridge, oven, and microwave 2 weeks ago. None were in stock, so I had the fridge and oven delivered (I wouldn't pay for a microwave to be shipped, I picked that up myself a couple days later).
[*]Delivery date agreed upon: Mar 20 because the clerk said the parts could not possibly be at Sears any sooner. I was to get a call on Mar 19th stating the exact delivery time.
[*]Mar 15, got 5 separate phone calls (some computerized, some in person) - each one stating that the ordered parts were in. No call mentioned delivery times or dates. Why 5 calls? I hate calls, and this is excessive. And yep, remember that it couldn't possibly get in sooner.
[*]Mar 17, got a phone call at work, the Sears truck was 5 minutes from my house and they were appologizing that they were running late. I was 15 minutes away at work and rushed over there.
[*]They only had the fridge which they set up (I had to do some mad work to get the old fridge empty to move, meaning more time off of work).
[*]Mar 19, got another computer call that they were delivering the fridge and oven on Mar 20. I hope they don't charge for 2 deliveries. And I hope they don't try to deliver 2 fridges, what a hassle that would be.
[*]Mar 20, took off work. It was a snowy day (~12"). Got a call, Sears won't deliver. Rescheduled for Mar 25.

So that'll be 3 days off work, almost 10 phone calls, a partial delivery on the wrong date, incorrect information from the clerk on when delivery could be done, and final delivery almost week late.

You had 2 fridges delivered?

I'll find on on Friday. I'd certainly refuse delivery on the 2nd if they try to do it. But so far, the computer seems to think so.

I only trust them for batteries and tires. Come to think of it I never bought tires from them before. I usually go to America's Tires for that.

They still don't have my car put back together.
They told me not to worry, they won't charge me for the extra labor.
wtf? Do they think I am some how going to think they are doing me a favor?

I took my STi in to Sears to have some snow tires put on the stock wheels and they were the ONLY place that had the size I needed in stock. It took them almost 7 hours to take the stock tires off and put the snow tires on. Nicking and chipping each one of my wheels in the process. When I pointed it out they claimed "That's impossible because I (manager) helped with the removal/install myself." Contacted Sears corporate and basically got nowhere. So yeah I HATE Sears.

Back together but they want a deposit for the new part on it since if I leave today technically I would have possesion of the new part and not paid for it.

I don't buy anything from Sears. Two major appliances we bought from them (high end) both crapped out in just over a year (i.e. warranty period). Actually they were gifts, but just the same.

- You get better tools for cheaper at Lowes and HD and Amazon.
- You get better appliances for better prices at Costco.
- You get better service anywhere.

I had a dishwasher delivered a few weeks ago. I installed it and when I turned it on water sprayed everywhere out the side. I cleaned up the mess and called the service number. Since I installed it myself there was nothing they could do to fix it. "Sir, they have to be installed perfectly level otherwise they will leak, that is why we recommend professional installation." This thing would have leaked less if I installed it on its side.

I call the store and tell them I got a defective unit, they tell me to call the service # to fix it since I installed it myself....uhhh, yeah. I just keep saying I want it replaced. I tell the guy it has a defect in workmanship. He asks if they came to that conclusion when I called service, I tell him I came to that conclusion when it started spraying water all over my kitchen. They order a new one and tell me it'll be here the next Monday.

Sunday night comes and goes with no call about delivery. So Monday morning I call the delivery number and get connected to a rep who says no dishwasher has been ordered for me. She then transfers me to a supervisor. I guess the supervisor was able to see what had happened because she put me on hold for 5 minutes after she basically said 'hi' and then when she returned to the line apologized for the mistake and said a new one would arrive Tuesday. Sure enough it did, and worked fine.

I think they could have done something to make up for the fact that I had to install the dishwasher twice and was without one for a week, but I'd order from them again if they had what I wanted.

Must be using that same capacitor that dell uses on the motherboard.

Story as told by one of those redneck comedians. Currently in a lawsuit with Sears because he had some tires installed, then 200 yards away from the place, 2 tires fell off. That guy must have been absent on "lugnut day" in his training class. 😀

I disagree.

Tools, Craftsman > Stuff at Lowes and Hd.
Appliences Sears sells the same things as Costco plus so much more.
Services, we had great service for the things we bought at Sears.

But yes at Sears the clerks are terrible, and tend to make mistakes. That is the worst thing about Sears tough, the clerks who enter in the information alwasys skrewing up.
