Hamlin man accused of harassing police, claims he's too smart to get caught

Cory Dodson, 25, is accused of making harassing phone calls to state police on February 25 and 26.

According to state police, Dodson said he and his friends were out riding stolen ATVs and that they wouldn't be caught, because they were way too smart and were calling from an untraceable cell phone.

He reportedly called state police six more times and even threatened a trooper that he would shoot him in the head.

Dotson was arrested in Brockport after police traced his cell phone.

It's hard to believe there are people this stupid in the world. But then I wander into P&N and I'm reminded, in the most painful way imaginable, that, indeed, the world seems to have no problem meeting its moron quota.

from another news site with a little more detail:

(Canandaigua, N.Y.)-The New York State Police in Canandaigua have arrested a man who made several harassing phone calls to their barracks, threatening to shoot an officer.

Police say Cory W. Dodson, 25, of Hamlin, made 7 calls to State Police in Canandaigua between February 25 and 26.

His calls referenced a burglary made at Cycle Enterprises in West Bloomfield.

He admitted to the robbery, and claimed he and his friends were riding the stolen ATVs, but wouldn?t get caught because the cell phone he was calling on was untraceable.

When the dispatcher asked why Dodson was calling, he said it was just for fun.

During the seventh call, Dodson told the officer he would shoot him in the head.

Dodson was arrested March 6 in Brockport after his calls were traced.

He appeared in Farmington Town Court on March 16.

He should have used VOIP through a voice modifier and proxy server, and only called once. :p

Wouldn't the proxy server know his IP?

Not if he routed the call through an off-shore oil rig and bounced it off a satellite in geosynchronous orbit

A quick search reveals that a good portion of your posts are made in the P&N section. Why do you hang out in there if you find the people in there so moronic?
Is it a way to feel superior?

You are assuming he is categorizing most people in P&N as morons as opposed to a select few. Also depends on the quantity that AP thinks the world's moron quota is too, nee?

I don't find everyone there moronic. I enjoy trying to have a frank political dialogue with people who have opposing viewpoints using logic, rational thinking and evidence to support the arguments we make. I find it an invigorating exercise of the mind, and it opens me up to accepting new ideas.

But you'll run into a select few posters, from all sides of the political spectrum, who display such a breathtaking lack of higher brain functions that you wonder how they manage to turn on a computer, let alone post messages on a forum. They're the kind of people who would make tech support come down to plug in their computer for them if they could only figure out how to work a telephone. It's this mindless partisan bickering that P&N has become known for on these forums, not because it's representative of everyone, or even the majority of people, who posts there, but because everyone who ventures in there is confronted by it and astounded that such a level of idiocy could exist in the world.

So, in short, I made a reference that people who frequent these forums could appreciate, as most have seen the "P&N partisan retardation" firsthand. I'm sorry if you felt I was calling you out specifically; for what it's worth, I don't recall seeing you posting in P&N, and you certainly aren't one of the ones I was thinking of.

Jonks, on the other hand... :D
