I'm all for getting the best deal whenever I can, sometimes to a fault, but come on. 35 cents? I don't care if it's 50% of the price. You want 35 cents? I'll paypal it to you.

It's like those people who make a trip across town because gas is 5 cents a gallon cheaper. Great, you just saved A DOLLAR to fill your tank. Hell, even if the one across the street is 5 cents cheaper, I won't bother if it means making extra left turns across traffic.

I'm a cheap bastard and love getting things for the lowest price possible on the internet (ebates, fatwallet, credit card rewards), even if it's to save $0.35. 8.75% is still 8.75% cheaper than you paid for it at the regular price. Hell I bought some supplements from a website that saved me $3.50 over Amazon's price today. Everything adds up and it's probably why I have money and people like Alky do not.

For the people asking who still buys CDs, it's still the highest quality recording you can get for ripping. Have fun with your shitty low bitrate mp3s that you paid double what a used CD costs.

LOL he's ranting about $0.35... oh the irony....

Usually my threshold for saving is $1 but I wanted to see how far the moron would counteroffer.

It also depends on the item/situation, I'm not always going for the bottom line on a sale. For example, yesterday I got a great deal on some rare art by a good looking young gal that was raising funds to move to NYC. She basically sold it for around 45% off what I know she paid to the artist (we're talking $800+) so I gave her an extra $50 (or 11% commission) to help her with the move since I would have bought the art for full price off of the dealer (had it been available). We also bypassed eBay's stupid fcking seller fees by doing a private deal so I basically just gave eBay's cut to her to spend. Also made a good friend in the process so it depends on the situation.

Because like most of ebay its resellers. The guy was planning to buy it from amazon and have it shipped to your address. After ebay fees he has to charge 20% more than amazon to break even. Ebay is 90% resellers these days and they dont even have the product in hand.

Have fun with your scratched CD from an ebay seller, or a CD that's simply a pirated copy, burned from the MP3's (at low bitrate) that were converted back to .wav files; or a CD that you waited 2 weeks for the seller to get around to putting in the mail.

Never had any of the examples you mentioned. It's always the original CD with the original CD cover from the picture, never scratched, and most of the sellers have in the thousands for positive feedback. I'm guessing you've never actually bought a used CD off ebay or half.com.

Yeah, I buy used CDs from amazon and they're fine. If they were really shitty you could return them most likely but I never had cause too. I'm not sure what the criticism is anyway? It depends on the CD but a lot of times the used CD has a huge markdown. The CDs are often cheaper than the MP3s.

So there's this used CD I wanted to buy on eBay and it had Make Offer. So I made an offer of $1.35 cheaper than I could get on Amazon (shipping was the same for both) and the idiot counters me way more than Amazon. I counter back with $0.35 cheaper than Amazon, that was my final offer and he still counters with an offer higher than Amazon. Keep in mind this was for 4 or 5 bucks. I simply Declined his offer and put that Amazon had way cheaper sellers than his 2nd counter.

Bottom line is that if you're going to try to nickel and dime me for more than Amazon then you can go fck yourself. This is why Amazon is still king, no hassle where even saving $0.35 on eBay isn't a sure thing. Sad.

Amazon may be cheaper, but the Ebay seller has E-fees and P-fees to pay on each transaction. Would not be bad at 5%, but I think they are ?15%? or higher now.

And come 50 years from now, that original Nirvana or Beatles CD might be worth alot of money, while that MP3 will be worth nothing. I hit up Record Exchanges around here when I pass them by, always looking for mint CDs from certain artists.

Rarely have any issues with Ebay myself, and buy there often. Before I went camping last year, got a really nice tarp and 100 feet of paracord, in my choice of colors, for pennies on the dollar. I don't however buy electronics there.

50cents, a lot of money
you save 50cents here and maybe you go somewhere else, maybe you save another 50 cents
then you have one dollar
then you take your dollar, you go to one dollar store, and you buy something else

:biggrin::thumbsup:

Yup. Saving a few percent here and there adds up to a substantial difference in the long run.
