Hi all,

I have a 600 MHZ PIII CPU, and would like to understand the markings on it.
Here goes...

Intel Confidential QD62ES
9925E008-0158 Malay
'98 80525PY600512

Now, the last row shows it's a 600 MHZ CPU w/ 512 kb cache, Malay is Malay- what about the rest? Especially the "Intel Confidential" part? Could this be a beta-production CPU?
Any help would be great.

TIA,
-E.-

Looks like an engineering sample to me. You will probably not find much info that is publicly available on that. Many were factory multiplier unlocked though, so you might see if it is. :)

Thanks. That's what I thought.
Anyone else care to elaborate on this subject?

It's a Pentium III 600MHz Katmai Engineering Sample, produced in Malaysia, during 1999, Week 25. The rest are lot-tracking numbers.
