I found this fruit while walking around the neighborhood and I don't know what it is. I've been looking online and can't find anything. I live in Hawaii, so I am guessing its a tropical fruit of some sort (wonder if its edible). I don't want to cut it open yet because I want to take it to work tomorrow and see if anyone recognize it.

Do you know what it is? BTW, its about the size of a tennis ball.

its not a coconut, its soft. And I would know if its a coconut. This thing was on a tree that was about 8 feet tall with dark green leaves.
 
Here, I cut it open and this is what it looks like inside. I don't think its ripe because its got a sticky milky residue on the flesh. Also, there seems to be black seeds inside.

Oh you're right its not a coconut. That's a Purley pear.
