My GF returns to her Santa Monica apartment after a business trip to find two "bees" in her kitchen. After finding the courage to leave her bedroom, she finds one of the "bees" dead and the other dying.
While on the phone, I suggest she look for evidence of a nest or hive, thinking she has yellow jackets as new roommates.
She doesn't find a nest or hive, but does discover a strange insect she describes as "larva-like, with little antennae." She believes these insects are the pre-metamorphosis form of the "bees."
She has killed nearly a dozen of the little bastards, including two of them in "bee form."
Anyway, you can obviously tell I know squat about insects and I'd like to help her identify her new roommates. She's away again until tomorrow and is dreading returning home to more uninvited guests.
Below are two crappy iPhone pics taken by her.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
