Area rug on the floor and soft lighting, not the stupid lights in the ceiling that kill your eyeballs in 5 minutes.
Plants are always nice unless you kill them.

Go to walmart or even someplace like homedepot, hit the garden dept. See what looks cool.

Balls to the wall or none at all. Don't use porn unless your not planning on getting laid. A cactus that requires little water, a lava lamp, a bang for a vase and your good to go.

Rug/carpet on floor (unless floor is already carpeted). Walls plastered w/posters. Lots of black light.

X-Mas lights (colored or white, but colored is better) look really good. Hang them around the ceiling and you have your "mood" lighting. If you plan on keeping your windows open during the day, then get some plants. A floor rug is a good thing. Get some good looking, comphy chairs. Also, consider getting some of those fold up chairs that go into bags and putting them under the bed. Perfect for large groups.

Get some good looking posters.
