Ideas or recommended case fan brand

2 Zalman 80mm case fans... one oriented to be exhaust, other to be intake.
nearly full tower case, getting either a vibration or the exhaust fan is going bad.

They are also quite loud, louder than expected along with the new CPU fan on the 3700 Athlon 64.
They are quite prone to dust build up as well, having dust on the blades after just a month or two... not a great deal, but a decent bit.

Are there any quieter, more dependable fan solutions out there for file server case(not sure on brand but, has a front opening door(half height of case), 4 5.25 bays, 2 3.5 bays, hard drive cage for 3 hard drives, and space for a 80mm fan on the front.

The system is used mostly for gaming on semi new games... nothing FPS driven really.
Also for College work(reports...etc) and regular surfing/use.

Both Zalmans are only 4 months old.

In my opinion you could go here www.directron.com and get a couple of dust filters and dromets then get 7volt adapters for those fans above all get rid of the stock hsf try this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835166054 a mate has one and is super quiet for general use and light ocing alternatively you can just get a fan adapter to move it to a larger 120 mm fan or just put a fanmate on it ...The coice is yours ... Do you want to spend anymore I have a decent oc on my system and it is below 20 db .....for under 100.00

goto directron, or newegg if ur not in cali and look up panflo's. There great, quite powerful yet very quiet. Also if ur insides dont look like a rats nest, meaning u have good wire management, the vantec stealths have been the quietest fan's ive ever heard. They however dont push out a lot of air, so ur gonna need the airflow to be pretty much unrestricted.

Not really wanting to overclock this system, just running it stock.

So Vantec is only name I saw....

Wouldn't filters badly inhibit airflow?

The Zalmans are good fans. Try getting a fan controller or a couple of Fanmates, to tune them down to tolerable levels with max airflow.

The system has 2 CD-ROMs at the top, a SATA150 cable, a 4pin molex for the HD, fan power cables, and thats about it for the cables running across the system, I would imagine theres good airflow in the lower 75% of the case.

I'll look into fan controllers and fanmates... any recommendations?

With fan controllers, a problem is selection -- even Newegg only has 9 controllers online that I see; there are several recommended controllers that don't appear there. Similarly with the stores in my locale -- I just happened to find a couple of desirable controllers in the store; they're not even in their own catalog.

I'd say that any controller will do the job for you, and you should pick one based on cosmetics, price, and functionality. The Sunbeam Rheobus is often cheap, and does the power fine, but has bright LED's. An Enermax Ultimate for example will be slightly more, but give you better features / cost, including 4 temperature probes, RPM readouts, and alarms and LED's that can make the Rheobus look tame. Others come with card readers. There's a big variety "out there".

i honestly dont think ur gonna need a fan controler with a vantec stealth. The fan itself emits a bearly noticible hum. Zalmans are really good fan's also. Its basically your pick, try to stay away from LED fan's because i have yet to hear a really quiet one.
