Ideas on how to ship cheesecake from CA to MO ?

hey,

I have a friend in the military who will be working for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I want to make him a chocolate cheesecake (his favorite) and send it to him.

It can be frozen, but it is still fairly delicate.

Which carrier is the best handler of fragile packages?

How much would this cost to send overnight?

I would have to package it fairly snuggly in styrofoam, with ice packs to keep it frozen.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

thanks...

well you'll want to use an overnight service (a friend of mine did this). Airborne Express is usually really careful about their fragile packagees. You can use a couple cold packs and put it in there. Freeze the cheesecake ahead of time, so that it won't be that easy to mess up.

Then ship it priority overnight. With the cold packs and being frozen, it should last a little over 24 hours i think. From what my friend did, she says that they guy didn't get sick.

Make sure you pack it in a sturdy box with enough padding around that is firm enough but absorbs some shock. Oh and it's really damn expensive. Look to spend $30-50 on shipping it.

<< order it from the Cheesecake factory....yum >>

You missed the point, I think... (besides, my homemade is better)

Thanks for the info jlee75.

Anyone else with experience?
