I'm headed to Switzerland for 3 weeks (May 23rd to June 12th). I'm headed there for a learning abroad session. I will be staying right outside Zurich. Most of the schedule is fairly well set, but I do have Saturday afternoons till Monday Morning open. I want to head over to France and ride the highspeed rail there one day, but other than than I'm looking for some things to do around Zurich, or within a day trip from there. Any ideas?

I'd say google for guided tour travel packages of Switzerland to see what sites they typically take their customers to and just go to sites that interest you yourself.

I've been to Switzerland a few times now and have loved it each time. I highly recommend looking into a Swiss Rail Pass (General Abonnement or Half Fare Card) if your gonna be there for 3 weeks, Rail travel is Switzerland was among the most expensive I encountered in all of Europe.

Definitely take a trip to Lucerne & Vitznau (up to the top of Mt. Rigi), your not far at all in Zurich. Also, I loved Interlaken/Lauterbrunnen/Gimmelwald/Grindelwald (all doable in one trip), as well as Zermatt (Matterhorn), and although Zermatt is a decent trek from Zurich it is WELL worth it.

Geneva was cool, but I didn't care for it as much as the rest of the country. Too international, not "Swiss" enough for me 🙂

I'm jealous, I would love to go back.

so you have 3 weekends you can actually go out, outside of Switzerland?

I would hit up one of the EU countries you have wanted to always see...
