This is our main floor hallway bathroom that gets used a lot, but never the bathtub. The tub came with the house and is filthy and we'd never use a bathtub here anyway. There's already another full bath next door attached to the office. Ideally we want to put a washer/dryer in the place of the tub area.
- is this a crazy idea? The plumbing is already there. I saw it at one other house and thought it made a lot of sense vs. having them in the basement.
- The tub runs 30" deep toward that far rear wall, just deep enough for a typical washer or dryer. And it's about 56" long and so a side-by-side washer/dryer would mean one would sit right in front of that toilet - that will not work. It doesn't have to be a front-loader but we're not going to stand over the toilet to load clothes.
- Is there such a thing as nice-looking stackable washer/dryers? All I'm finding is plain ugly white. That way we can just do a storage closet behind that toilet and put it all behind some foldable doors like a typical closet. Or maybe no doors at all - not very much space in there.
- any better ideas as to what to do with this space? I believe we'll have to re-tile the areas (possibly everything) so it won't be a small dollar amount, so we want it to make sense before diving in - just because we don't have a use for the bathtub (and it's filthy).
