I'm getting married Saturday and have put this off as long as a possible. I know I'm NOT getting anything monogramed because

(1) I don't have time
(2) No one really cares for another monogramed <insert gift here>

My fiance recommended a Swiss Army knife for everyone. Yeah, it's still a knife, but much better than a single-blade silver monogramed one, IMHO. :)

I'd love to get them all personalized gifts (ie, golf stuff for the golfers, etc.) but still a little unsure about specific items. It's got to be something local given the timeframe.

I'm thinking about maybe gift certificates to Best Buy or a nice restaurant.

One of the coolest things ever to do for your Groomsmen is to take them all out on the morning of the wedding for an old fashioned straight-razor shave. After they come out feeling like a million bucks, present them with a small gift. A friend of mine who got married a while back did that exact thing for all the Groomsmen and it was one of the most simple yet memorable things that really made everyone feel special. Most cities should have one or two barbers that still do old fashioned straight-razor shaves if requested. They're amazing.

just find something you think they'd like that's around the price of their tux rental

I have my groomsmen a flask with their initials engraved on it.

edit: oh, i see you don't want anything generic like that. the other thing i thought about doing was taking everyone to a ball game or other sporting event and just having a night out on the town, although some would say that's what the bachelor's party is for.

Every wedding where I have been in the wedding party, the Bride and Groom picked up the cost of my tux rental. I thought that must be the norm or something. Maybe I'm just lucky to have generous friends who insist on paying for that stuff. Is that not the norm if you are a member of the wedding party?

My B-I-L was a groomsman that went through that. Unfortunately for him, the guy that did the shaving was about 70 with a touch of Parkinson's. All of the groomsmen had cuts all over their face. Not a pretty sight.

for one, i think we are getting a surfing lesson and the other a massage. there are only two of them so its pretty easy.

all i can saw is that its good to get them something each individual will use or a service (legal!) like tix to a good theatre play, sporting event, concert
