Ideal Wi-Fi Adapter?

Long story short, I'm in need of a Wi-Fi adapter for my first PC build. I have no experience with them and have no clue which are good, PCI-E vs USB connection, etc and I could really use some help from you guys. I don't think you would need to know my PC part list for determining this but I can give a list if necessary. Both PCI-E and USB ports would be available on my motherboard so I have no problem using either, I just want whatever would work best.
