im running an x6800 in a ga-965p-ds3 board with the Arcitc cooling freezer 7 pro link hs/fan and arctic silver paste. according to coretemp, im idling around 40 C, and full load running at 59-60 C. this doesnt seem normal. should i try remounting the hs and all, or is there something else going on here?

Well, you are within spec but I would doublecheck the temps with some other programs like Intel's "Thermal Analysis Tool" before I did anything drastic if I were you.

Hmmm, I didn't know that HSF came with thermal paste, I guess they all do tho... So it's not true that the thermal paste that comes with the hsf's suck? That would take about 7 bucks off my total price for my rig...

He never said he didn't and never said he did. You're assuming he didn't. Plus... every damn TIM on the market is withion 1% of eachother. No use telling him to use one over the other. It's not going to change the temps.

thanks for all the input everyone. i thought i read people were idling in the 30s on air, but i guess im alright
