Ideal RWIN setting?

I have DSL using Raspppoe. I get two conflicting opinions from tweakguide.net and dslreports. Should I set it lower than 65535 and have scaling disabled? 😕
 
those kinds of options depend highly on the network you're on.

I'd stay away from scaling...you don't know what os the other side is running.

RWIN settings? play around some...24-32K is good.
 
I've tried different settings repeatedly and for me the best has been a VERY large rwin

right now using 186880.. this or whatever is maximum.. I used to use larger but would get alot of retransmits.

there is no best number.. it depends on your isp or the internet at the time. I found 65535 limited my download speeds, when I upped it the max speed was higher. Higher rwin is better if latency is high (greater than 150ms) to the download server.
