Ideal RWIN setting?

I have DSL using Raspppoe. I get two conflicting opinions from tweakguide.net and dslreports. Should I set it lower than 65535 and have scaling disabled?

those kinds of options depend highly on the network you're on.

I'd stay away from scaling...you don't know what os the other side is running.

RWIN settings? play around some...24-32K is good.

I've tried different settings repeatedly and for me the best has been a VERY large rwin

right now using 186880.. this or whatever is maximum.. I used to use larger but would get alot of retransmits.

there is no best number.. it depends on your isp or the internet at the time. I found 65535 limited my download speeds, when I upped it the max speed was higher. Higher rwin is better if latency is high (greater than 150ms) to the download server.

If you are using cable/dsl then set the DefaultRcvWindow to 32767
