ideal ram for Foxconn Mars?

I am trying to figure out what ram would be best for an OC of an E8400 if I get a Foxconn Mars motherboard. It doesn't seem to recommend DDR2-1000 but that is the speed of the G.Skill kit I was looking at. It looks like the Mars wants 800, 1066 or 1300. Which is the best pick for a good oc? Thank you very much.

DDR2-1000 is fine

Your E8400 has a 9x multiplier. This means that DDR2-800 would be sufficient to overclock your chip to 3.6GHz, and DDR2-1000 would allow you to overclock your chip to 4.5GHz, assuming that your board and chip will run a stable 500MHz FSB. Not every pair of motherboard and chip is going to do that.

And DDR2-1000 will work fine.

Thank you for the info, will a cheap set of ddr2-800 sticks work or do I need to shell out for more expensive sticks?

A good set of DDR2-800 sticks will let you OC to a certain point, depending on MB and vdimm. If you really want to push for a higher OC, then you will need to get a higher FSB rated memory module. Just beware that most of the higher rated chips are just better binned and allow for more vdimm to be applied.

2x1GB sticks will also put less load on the NB then 2x2GB sticks.

If I was to skimp out cash-wise and get an ip35-e and 4 gigs of A-data DDR2-800, would I have to replace the MB and Ram when I want to oc later?
