IDE vs SATA

I'm way behind the times and still use a 7-8 year old rig. I have some WD SE 8mb buffer IDE. Anyways, Is there like a 20% increase from these old drive compared to WD RE 16mb cache sata 3.0gb/s when moving bigger files around? And only a little faster with small files? How about games?
