Hey All,
Long time lurker, second time poster (o:
This may be a very silly question, but here goes:
I am thinking of upgrading my aging Abit KR7 Raid and Athlon 1700+ to a new intel 865PE board and 2.8C pentium. I am currently using IDE Raid 0 for my OS drives and most of my apps. I want too continue to use a RAID setup.
I currently have 2 Quantum 75 gig drives in my array, and I would like too use Serial ATA adapters and take advantage of the serial ata ports on all the 865 boards. Many of them also come with serial RAID, questions is: Can I use a Serial ATA converter on my drives, and still take advantage of serial ATA RAID? This is purely a cost concern since some boards can cost upwards of $50 more just because they have IDE RAID when serial raid is on most main stream 865 boards.
Like I said, might be a silly question. I for one hope it is possible. I want too be done with IDE, but I dont have the cash too drop $200 on 2 new serial ATA drives )o:
Thanks!!
