IDE Problem

OK, This MOBO only has 1 IDE input, and I have 2 devices(HDD and a DVD drive).

This all works out except that my IDE cable is just can not reach from the HDD to the DVD. The entire thing is long enough but 2 of the IDE inputs are close together and won't reach.

Do they sell longer or more separated IDE cables? Could you point me in the right direction?

How long is the one you have? Newegg sells 36 inch IDE cables

You can buy a 5.25" drive mount for the HD.

I will measure to see how long mine are. But my problem is not the overall length, it is the distance between the connectors.

An example is this is what my IDE cable looks like...

with each ] being a connector. I need something like this

It doesn't need to be longer, just the connectors need to be more spaced out. Does newegg give those specs on the cable?

yep, the opticals are at the top and the HDD are at the bottom and theres only one port, and the jmicron is placed all wrong

Would this work for what I need? Seems like it would. The one I have is 18" I believe, just the standard cable that comes with the MOBO. This one is 36", but the important part is it looks like the closest the connectors are together is maybe 12" or so which would work perfectly.

you can get an adaptor to mount the 3.5" HDD into a 5.25" drive bay
