WD hard drives have two master settings. One is master with slave one is master without a slave. Without a slave just take out the jumper and it will work fine. Make sure the end of hte ide cable is connected to the HD not the middle.

I have 2 WD harddrives. Both are set to cable select. I unplugged one (the master) which was on the end IDE connector. The second drive worked fine and was still connected to the middle connector on the IDE cable. Set the drive to CS and you should be fine. If the computer doesn't boot up, all you have to do is plug the end of the IDE cable into it instead, it' not like the whole thing will stop ever working again.
