IDE LED...

Since I switched from WIN98SE to WIN2000, the IDE LED is always on solidly, no flashing except I turn off the computer. I didn't make any hardware change or even move a cable inside the case. Anyone knows what happened??

Thanks!

my friend's computer is running win2k with the same problem. don't know how to fix it. i changed all the cables and unpluged everything but still no help.

Did both of you install win2k over win98se?

I've set up hundreds of win2k systems without this problem. Maybe its something that happens in the upgrade?

No, it was a fresh install.

I think it is not a big deal since my hard drive is very loudy but it is still very annoying.

By the way, my hard drive is Quantum Fireball LM 30 gig DMA 66 on ASUS A7V IDE channel 1, not the ATA 100 channel.

i have no idea, the hdd led stays on the whole time. it was a fresh install though. as i said, i've tried everything but still couldn't fix it.
