IDE Identification problems problems

I have problem whena I but my computer. It may be connected to my Maxtor hard drive and Epox mother board. When I turn my Computer somtimes during IDE verification it make 2 short beeps and stay freez for about 40 seconds. After that comp continues booting without hard disk and crashes. After I restart it several times it works normaly. Can anyone tell me what is wrong

Do all the basics first , check to make sure everything inside your case is correctly seated in their slots/sockets including cables .

Then check your bios to see if you have any weird settings from the norm.

May want to check if there is a bios update for your motherboard .
