Hi all
I have a toshiba laptop model s1800-400 ps18100d5c
motherboard is a toshiba portable p version A0
My problem is:-
I wish to upgrade the dvd drive (teac dv-28e-a) to a combo drive.
I have purchased a sony crx830e dvd cdrw combo drive and it fits perfectly in the laptop but.
When i boot up i get an "ide#1 error" message and the drive is not recognised.
The message goes away if i refit my old dvd drive.
can anyone help me to get around this problem?
Thanks in advance

Try accessing the BIOS and fiddle around with the IDE settings to see if that helps.

Update the bios on your computer to the latest verison. And, if available, update the firmware on the drive to the latest version.
