IDE Error during boot.

Revned

Hi. I just installed a new motherboard with a 100 DMA IDE controller. Problem is every time I boot the computer I get this error msg "Primary IDE 80 Conductor Not Installed", my system works fine with this error except I can only put my system in 33 DMA mode and not 100. What can the problem be?

Thanks

What is the burst rating of your hard drive? Is it ata66 or ata100? There is a cable for IDE that comes with a newly boxed hard drive - are you using that cable? It has more wires in it than the older UDMA 33 cables

Yah, I had the cables that came with the motherboard, but I misplaced it. Is their any place I can get it? I looked at compusa's website and they only show generic ide cables and not the specific ATA/100 IDE cables.

just goto any place that sells computers (bestbuy, local computer shop, etc) and ask for an ultra dma 66 or 100 cable and they'll sell you one
