Well, I think everyone here expects PC's to continue its contraction.

Although, I feel that Virtual Reality (like Oculus Rift) may level out the contraction and possibly even stabilize the current PC market. It takes a massively high end computer to run VR properly. It's very possibly the next killer app to fuel computer upgrades.....

I know 3 people that pre-ordered an Oculus Rift.... So it's seems pretty popular among PC gamers.... All of them required an upgrade to their existing machines to meet the minimum requirements.

It's OK, because that's why more people are building DIY PCs, right?

-21.7% decline in DIY mobo sales in 2015 YoY

Ohhhh. Anyone still wanna argue enthusiasts are keeping PCs alive?

Motherboards and DIY PC's will go the way of Television boards, CRTS and DIY TV sets.

Yes back in the days you had people who built their own TV sets. Now TV sets are a commodity item.

I would not be surprised when you no longer see motherboards for sale or PC cases, just like you no longer see Flybacks for sale and different models of CRT tubes for your DIY builds.

The DIY PC is a dying industry.

Intel will probably have to stretch out generations into 4 year cycles.

ie Kaby lake 2017-2021 then xxx? 2021-2025 etc..

not enough jump in performance to go through these 1 year cycles anymore.

Honestly, I'd ditch my desktop if it wasn't for gaming. That's the only reason i keep it, which is somewhat excessive now that i think about it.

You keep repeating this, but it won't make the idea any less a bad business idea!
