Idaho Mom, Son Accused of Murder Plot

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - A 56-year-old mother and her 40-year-old son have been served with arrest warrants accusing them of plotting the death of the woman's 15-year-old granddaughter _ a teen the son is accused of raping.

William Caldwell, who is the teen's uncle, and his mother Myra Caldwell, both of Pinehurst, are accused of trying to hire an undercover police officer to kill the girl, who now lives out of state.

According to court papers, the officer was told to "make sure she never showed up again."

The arrest warrants accuse the two of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

An informant told authorities the mother and son wanted to hire a hit man so the teen couldn't testify against her uncle in the rape case, Coeur d'Alene Police Sgt. Christie Wood said.

William Caldwell was served with the warrant Thursday in the Kootenai County Jail here, where he is awaiting trial on charges of felony rape and lewd conduct with a child under 16. Those charges were filed in August after a citizen found a duffel bag of personal letters in Post Falls that included details of the alleged crimes against the girl. The letters were turned over to Post Falls police.

Myra Caldwell also was arrested in Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

Both defendants were being held on $1 million bond. Their first court appearances are scheduled Monday.

When detectives served a search warrant at Myra Caldwell's home in Pinehurst on Thursday, they found firearms, ammunition and unspecified additional evidence, Wood said.

William Caldwell has a lengthy criminal history in Kootenai County. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 1989 on felony robbery charges and to five years in prison in 1995 on felony drug charges, according to court records.

Pinehurst is about 120 miles south of here near the Oregon border.

Just the name "Kootenai County" implies redneck 100%, this activity isn't all that surprising.

Actually less...that 6 years is the total the time between convictions. In that time, he was discharged from prison, started doing more illegal stuff, and got caught again. :disgust:

Sounds like a real winner.

Sorry I have to ask this, but why do some of you retards insist on posting news in OT? We have a forum, which is dedicated to this, called Politics and News. Is that so hard to understand?
