ICS tomorrow fore the AT&T Galaxy Note

Are we allowed to talk about how Samsung is selectively not adding features in order to encourage users to buy newer hardware?

Or do we reserve that talking point against Apple only?
<_<
>_>

Well, since it's a TouchWiz device, they're leaving several features out of Samsung's TouchWiz interface for ICS. Most noted from the article are S-Beam (likely AT&T's decision, since they disabled NFC on the GaxNote anyways), Smart Stay (uses the camera to see if you're looking at the screen and doesn't time out) and S-Voice.

Which features of ICS are they excluding?

No S-Beam and I think NFC overall's been heavily crippled. While not directly ICS, Shamesung has decided to not give us Note owners S-Voice. Samsung's lack of care for the people who buy their damn phones is pathetic.

Seriously, it's not even 5 months since it's been released. And now it's like "Oh hey, thanks for buying our outdated phone a few months ago. You want that really cool feature where the phone doesn't lock as long as you're looking at it? (A pretty nifty feature, actually) You're more than free to buy our newest phone for $600 since you probably just signed a two-year contract for that worthless old thing you're currently carrying."

The combo is AT&T + Samsung's one made in hell. I'm not sure which of the 2 are worse when it comes to giving the customers what they want or even deserve. Both neither give 2 shits about me. My Note will never see JB, not directly from Samsung any ways. I don't care if they never said it would even get JB. If I buy a phone I expect it to get at least 1-2 updates. JB's now out, my phones less than half a year old. Yet I won't see it unless I root and install a custom rom.

Pathetic business practices from both of the companies.

Funny, everyone was hating on Samsung for only showing off "gimmicky" software tweaks with the S3 and now suddenly those two things are the difference between a modern phone and a worthless one...

I see why Samsung did it (they're supposed to be "exclusive features" to the S3 to help sell it more) but I don't agree with it. However, buying a Note and expecting it to gain new and (at the time) unannounced features that aren't even a part of stock Android is a bit much.

Why don't you just buy an iPhone if you so heavily crave their method of software updates?

I currently have my Note on CL in the trade section. It's been 2 weeks now, and not surprisingly I haven't gotten an email from a single iPhone 4S owner interested in trading.

Not surprising, they are completely different OSes with different app stores and are almost polar opposites in physical specs (small vs. extra large). Maybe you should try just selling the Note and then buying a 4S? Here on CL the 4S is almost ~$100 cheaper than the Note from a quick check.

I tried to sell it for a month, no offers, so I decided to try to trade it for the phone I want. Here the Note's about about $50 cheaper.

Im still happy its coming out love my Note, being its my first smart phone I have nothing to compare it to lol

No, definitely rejoice. I almost bought a Note. ICS is a huge step forward for Android. It's definitely worth the upgrade. No one's complaining about the upgrade, I think, just the annoyance that it takes the carriers so friggin long to release them.

I installed the ICS upgrade for my NOTE and so far the only thing that would not work for me was my Facebook app and to fix that all I did was uninstall the Facebook app and then reinstall it...so therefore everything is A-OK!
