ICS performance impact

Hello All. Currently I have my cable modem connected to a server running ipcop, the server has a second NIC card that goes to a switch that all my computer connect to. I use one of my computers for gaming. I am wondering if I would get better performance by connecting my gaming pc directly to the cable modem, and letting the other computers share the connection through it using a second NIC card. This way when I game I might have a little less latency. I am wondering if running ICS on my gaming pc will slow it down much. The other users on my network are pretty light users and there are only two of them. It is a beastly machine, so I wouldnt think it would be a problem, but I just wanted to know your thoughts. Also, does the windows ICS have QOS capability? Thanks!!!

If one ms is worth using a vastly inferior ICS, and you don't mind exposing your host box then by all means.

No, it is not worth it.

unless your having issues with your ipcop server, id say no. are you noticing latency issues or are just curious if you could improve you response time?

it wouldnt hurt to hook your gaming pc to the cable modem for a quick test, but most signs point to no.

Microsoft and QoS
