ICS Issue..

Well here is my problem, I don't have any privelages to change the wireless settings here at my school and the router IP is 192.168.0.1 so that is the gateway that my wireless connection has, because of this.. when I try to enable ICS on the connection it gives me an error saying that it can't enable it because the ip 192.168.0.1 is used by the wireless card therefore it doesn't want to assign this ip to another network device.. so I tried without enabling the ICS and just setting my lan ip to 192.168.0.2 and then setting the gateway on the other comptuer to 192.168.0.2 but that didn't work... any suggestions? The logical would be to change the IP of the router, but I can't do that. Thanks in advance.

Actually you don't want to use ICS. I wouldn't and it might not even work anyway. Bridge the existing network connections. Unless I am just misunderstanding the limited very limited information you gave a bridge is what your looking to do. Highlight the two network connections, right click and bridge.

Follow the instructions on this page to change the IP address that ICS uses for your LAN:

Note: This involves some significant Registry editing, so use at your own risk.

sweet thats pretty much exactly what i was trying to figure out.. thx

tried bridging.. the internet didnt seem to work, going to try the registry now. thanks

edit: actually it seems that the registry one is only for 98/ME... maybe something similar for XP.

Good point. I was hoping that the path to the registry key would be the same in Windows XP but I didn't actually test it myself before I posted the link. I'll see if I can find anything that will work for XP.
