Another vote for Trillian!
Skinnable, message-logging, global away/reconnect/disconnect, customizable sounds - I've been using it for quite awhile now, and I won't go back to the other IM clients.

Trillian with the "Tiny Cordillera (blacktitle mod v1)" skin.. 
that's true. i think right now, they're just trying to perfect just the connectivity part with all of the different programs. hopefully in the future, the trillian team will add the more advanced features (definately lacking in the icq features dept) that the individual programs have.
