🙁 my dad taped it for me, but since he is 150 miles away it may be a while before i get to watch it. hopefully i'll find it capped before then.

So is the new album old-style heavy or what ?

Sounds rather close to the Ride the Lightning era. More mature, of course, with some different-style guitar fills, but mostly fast and heavy. goodbye (Re)load days

I don't know too much about it either but I know enough to do it with VirtualDub with video compression set to YUY2 and the MP3 sound codec. That's pretty standard for a "divx" capture...

What'd you do to end up with 3GB ?

For some movie Metallica did a song with Ja Rule. It was pretty awful imho.

I didn't get to watch it tonight but if this is the case THANK GOD. I missed to old Metallica days, the last 7 or so.. ick.. Everything up to, and including, the black album rocked.. after that.. I began to like it less and less (but bought each CD of course 🙂 )

I miss Jason Newsted, but I've gotta say, the new guy definitely fills his shoes...

I haven't gotten a chance to hear the new guy with Metallica, but I heard him when he played with Ozzy, and he's not to bad. But as far as filling Newsted's shoes.. shrug.. Newsted still has yet to fill Cliff Burton's shoes.. Cliff was incredible, he laid waste to Jason if you ask me. Just listen to Pulling Teeth... mmmm... what a great bassist.

They did a release with Ja Rule on vocals and it sounded like sh!t... this was found on Kazaa back in maybe November '02.

It will have a DVD either with it or part of the CD. It is a bunch of songs (video) they did in the studio after they were done recording.

i am a noob, i put one of those newegg special leadteck 2000XP cards into my wife's pc
i guess it recorded at the default , which is "mpeg 2 good quality" , whatever that means, i don't know, it is big, i have never messed with divx, i'm a tv noob 😱

Damn MTV! First, they don't show Beavis & Butthead talking about Metallica (which actually happened at the taping), and then they cut the new song (Frantic) off after a minute! They don't even let us hear the chorus!

Oh, and Metallica's message board is down from all the people coming out of the woodwork to post about Icon.

St. Anger comes out June 10th in the U.S., and it does come with a DVD of the guys playing all the new songs live in the studio with Rob Trujillo (new bass player). Judging by the commercials for Icon, the DVD also includes some old songs! (We've seen Master of Puppets and Battery in the commercials)

I would've already re-captured the whole thing from tomorrow's 6pm re-airing by the time you get your hands on 3GB of download and re-compression. 😉

Avril's doing fine, she just doesn't have enough "anger" in her voice. ^_^

i'm going to summer sanitarium this year as well. i think having to sit through limp bizkit and linkin park will be worth it to *finally* see metallica live.
