.ico files no longer showing in explorer ??? **with pic**

I'm going to post a pic with but does anybody know why explorer would all of a sudden stop diplaying the icons next to .ico files ???

This happens with open dialog box as well.

in explorer, under 'tools' 'folder options', look at the 'file types' tab and make sure .ico is registered

or, probably better,

use tweakui from powertoys to 'repair' 'rebuild icons'

I deleted the .ico extension and then recreated it and assigned it as an icon file and it's working properly agian.
