Ichiro breaks record.

Congrats to Ichiro. He's a hitting machine. Can you imagine if he started his career here instead of Japan??

I wish he hadn't. 🙁 I like old baseball records and hope they never get broken.

Well..you know what they say... records are made to be broken. I know some baseball certain records are so special. Some records like the strikeout record and maybe even DiMaggio's hitting streak may never be broken though.

agreed in the old days a record was a record, now a days it just doesnt serve the same significance

I really think if he has another solid 5-6 years (hit .300+, around 200 hits, gold glove defense), he deserves to be the first Japenese player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Led the Mariners to most wins in a season, MVP, Rookie of the Year, 3-time gold glove winner, single-season hits record, most hits in a 4 year span record, batting titles. In only 4 years! If Kirby Puckett can make it with a short career, Ichiro should be able to.

Now if only the Mariners can get some decent hitters following Ichiro to take advantage of all his hits....

, congrats to him. He's a great player and deserves more credit than he gets. From what I hear, he's known about and followed only sparingly in Japan, while Hideki Matsui is regarded as a national hero. Go figure 😛

lol... true... it enables him to spank those grounders through the infield harder.

You could also tell the guy is built like a rock. Watch out Mark McGwire.

 If he's a buck fifty soaking wet, I love iPods.

it will have an astericx next to it because he did it in a 164 game season and not 150 game season

at 150 games he wasent close to the record

lmao! 😀

Yeah but Sisler was a very different era from today, no african-american players. Anyways, even with an asterisk it's still impressive because no one got close in over 80 years.

No it won't. Maris' record finally had the asterisk removed and this one will never see it.
