iChat Problem

So I just got a brand new 17" MBP with the High-res upgrade and I absolutly love it. Things happened in my pants that I cant describe in public. But I have a problem with iChat. The problem is that 90% of the time i attempt to use it, I sign in for about 1 second and see my buddy list, but then it "unexpectedly loses the connection to AIM". But one time I got it to log in and not exit, but then it showed no one online, which isnt true b/c i was just talking to someone via adium. It even showed me offline. Anyone ever have this problem? Thanks in advance for any help.
 
Quick question. Are X-ing out of Adium, or actually quitting the application?
 
I'm actually quitting. I'm not brand new to OS X. I know to quit an application. But thanks. I tried running iChat while adium was still up and I just got signed out of adium for signing on in a new location.

Past that, have you ever found that you can connect iChat in other places? It used to be on my machine that I could connect through iChat on campus, but not at home.
 
I know it was just a question. I didn't mean to sound hostile. I haven't gotten a chance o use it anywhere else, but when I do I'll report back. Unfortunately, 98.45% of the time I'm using it will be at my apartment. :-/
 
Is there any reason why you want to use iChat and not Adium? Is it for Video Chat?
 
Yeah, the video chat. When I use to have a mac, I used iChat and liked it, so I'm just glad that at least if i cant get it to work, I have a sweet program that does work.
 
Ah. I used the video chat once or twice, but it was never that important to me, so I have stuck with Adium
 
So I opened all those ports on my router and it didn't help. I have a Netgear WGT624v3. Anyone have any other ideas as to why it wont work? Thanks.
