Icewind Dale II Q&A info

Info can be found here at Voodoo Extreme ,here`s a taste for RPG fans

<< VE: Let's get the usual suspects out of the way: what's the storyline behind Icewind Dale II and where does it take place?

Doug Avery: The story begins with your band of mercenaries arriving at the docks of Targos, a town on the shores of the Maer Dualdon. Targos is besieged by an army of goblinoids. You must defeat them and find out who or what has organized them into the fearsome horde they've become. Your quest takes you all the way from the frozen wastes of Icewind Dale, to the Underdark and beyond.

VE: How many new races and sub-races will be included in the game?

Doug Avery: We are including all of the standard races from Icewind Dale (Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings and Half-elves) and adding the Half-orc as a playable race. We have also added in sub-races for each race. Examples include Drow Elves, Gold Dwarves and Aasimar (a planar hybrid of a human and a celestial being). Each sub-race has its own advantages and disadvantages. The Aasimar gains +2 to Wisdom, +2 to Charisma, additional resistance to cold, acid and electricity, and they can cast Sunscorch once per day. Through level ten, they suffer a 35% penalty to their gained experience points to balance out the benefits they are given.

I believe the release date is May this year.

Anyway it`s looking good 🙂.

Yummy. 🙂 Probably the last Infinity engine based game. Should be fun til Neverwinter comes out.

A friend of mine lent me Icewind about four months ago, and I haven't gotten around to it yet. He said I might as well keep it longer. I've been thinking about getting the expansion so I could play it at higher than 640X480--would it be worth my time?

I hear there's fan created expansions out for Baldur's Gate II (I have one of them on a hard drive somewhere, about 200mb, I believe, shadow something) that are pretty good, should I stick to them instead?

I actually found the original Icewind Dale pretty hard,as for the expansion pack well I never played that but I would save my money and go with Icewind Dale 2 when it comes out(should be May).

BG2 is great and I hear the expansion pack is good,I never seem to buy the expansion packs.

The expansion for IWD polished up the original game and add new items and spells, also some more areas and quests. They then added a free add-on to the add-on with more quests and areas and items. IWD is like BG2 battles, but more epic, meaning alot more enemies on screen.
