Icelandic has got to be one of the hardest languages to pronounce. Sounds like a fucking nightmare to learn!

it is and they're very proud of that.

it'd be awesome if everyone there spoke english as a 2nd language... i'd love to visit. wouldn't want a tour guide and wouldn't want to learn the language... way too hard a language to learn... words are too long to read and sound out correctly...

this, you'll have a hard time finding someone below the age of 50 on Iceland who doesn't speak english. I've never met one myself.

Iceland is green and Greenland is Ice . THE minny ice age of 1300AD isn't nearly has tiny as people believe because of the history books. Greenland was Green befor this period hence the name. This Period is almost uncomprendable in regaurd to what were taught.

In the middle of the summer and people still wear sweater and jackets. It is a windy place with no trees. The foods would taste like shit as well, because it is unlikely that they use herbs in their cuisine.

we've been on vacation to a lot of warm places, nice beaches, cruising and porting at hot spots on either side of our continent. But our favorite has been Alaska because it's a completely different experience. It feels like you're in a real desolate place completely alone (when you're not), a place that you can feel anything but crowded, and there's that air that is unlike any other. Stand in front of a glacier and the term dwarf comes to mind. We kayak'd among the mist of a completely calm lake with Mendenhall Glacier in our view, saw some bald eagles, and heard a lot of peaceful silence. This is what the atmosphere seems to be like when you're in Iceland. It seems like a real nice place to actually vacation, even if you're not going to be in a bathing suit every day.

My wife and I plan to head back to iceland next year. The food is great (I ate whale and puffin!), the people are awesome, and the terrain is freaking cool. I can't wait to drag my parents with us for there first time leaving the continent. They love Alaska so Iceland is the next logical step... minus the trees

Friend of my fathers took a trip to the Arctic circle with his wife. They really enjoyed it but I have no fricken clue why. I get it that the desolation is beautiful,... and then what? I'd much rather go back to south east Asia!
