Basically the weekends ICE raids were completely ineffective because the President couldn’t keep his mouth shut and wanted to act like a tough buy.
Hundreds to thousands worked extra time with what I assume is an extra cost to catch 35 people of the 2000 targeted.
A 1.75% success (close) rate is dismal for any industry I’ve worked in.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/23/politics/ice-raids-35-arrests/index.html

Acting ICE Director Matthew Albence acknowledged the numbers were low in an interview with the Times on Monday, telling the paper, "I don't know of any other population where people are telling them how to avoid arrest as a result of illegal activity," he said. "It certainly makes it harder for us to effectuate these orders issued."
"You didn't hear ICE talking about it before the operation was taking place," he told the Times.

^^^yeah, the poor result is all due to the media telling people how to avoid being arrested and has nothing to do with Dear Leader announcing the raids a week in advance

I really do hope a lot of that was due to people knowing all they had to do to avoid ICE was to not open their doors.

There were some stories about how tips on how to deal with ICE have now spread very widely thanks to Trump's idiocy, something groups had struggled to inform people about previously.

So their economic plan gives permanent tax cuts for the wealthy, waste money feeding one man's ego with raids and posturing at the border, It allows him to golf every weekend with the occasional play date with Vlad and Un sprinkled in?

I wonder what would happen if instead of spending all this money chasing, scaring and incarcerating immigrants we instead housed, fed and gave medical treatment OUR homeless? That sounds like something the greatest country on Earth would do.

The GOP would be all for that is they could only figure out a way to make sure that none of that money went to poor or colored people. They would be happy to house, feed, and give medical treatment to rich white homeless people.

Which country would that be?

There's this story we tell kids about how the first immigrants to what would become this nation were dying from starvation because they couldn't feed themselves. The local natives taught the immigrants how to grow and harvest the food they would need to survive and that we celebrate this once a year, on Thanksgiving Day, in remembrance of the event. We are taught this story in school as part of our history, something that we should remember and celebrate. Unfortunately, I think conservatives heard this story and took it as a cautionary tale: If you feed and assist immigrants, one day they'll take over and kick you to the curb like we did to the natives of this land.

Rather than celebrating the natives saving the first immigrants, conservatives prefer to celebrate by going to Thanksgiving gatherings, getting drunk and ruining it for everyone.

One might recall how Trump often boasts of his great military genius and how his amazing plans need to be secret because it is obviously very dumb to tell people exactly what you are doing ahead of time.

It seems like this proves yet again how apt this description of Trump is: ‘malevolence tempered by incompetence’.

He wants to do so many horrible things, he’s just too stupid and lazy to do them right.

I still can’t get over the 1.75% success rate.
These numbers aren’t based upon facts but I’ll make an amateur guesstimate
Assuming there needs to be 2 ICE agents per “raid”
I can’t imagine a team of two making more than 4 attempts in a day
2000/4=500 teams needed
16 man hours per team
16x500=8000 hours
ICE agent salary runs $42k to $82k per year. I’ll roll with the low side for weekend raid guys at $25 per hour.
$200,000 to round up 35 bad hombres $5,715 per hombre. This is assuming nothing else had to be done with those agents. Realistically this was an overtime duty.
Assuming overtime rate $8,575 per bad hombre.
Cost per arrest doesn’t sound too bad however I’m not hearing about what quality of bad hombre they arrested. My former sales manager mind can’t let go of what would the result be if those 8000 man hours were spent doing something else like patrolling the boarder or tracking down the top 20 bad hombres who are real criminals.
