No. They will just blame Obama. A president who has been around for almost a decade
You should have seen the letter in my local paper that blamed Democrats for supporting Clinton during his impeachment as a precursor to MAGA lawbreaking today. Having to stretch back 30 years to both-sides it - hope the letter writer didn't hurt himself with such a reach.

Theres also the order of magnitude difference, even if it is "both sides".

Now I am really wanting a massive data leak from them to the world, it could be hilarioius seeing them being the victims outside the USA. Unless they pull a North Korean way and stay on their home forever

I'd add CBP, which is arguably worse, to this as well. In fact smashing DHS and breaking everything up in to constituent agencies should be pursued.

New agencies with drastically limited legal authorities should be created to take over their functions. It should be flatly fucking illegal for CBP to be deployed places that are not on an actual border.

Indeed.

From what I've read, the real cowboy bs tactics have largely been CBP.

ICE used to be an agency that would handle things a little more delicately - prioritizing who they would pick up, tracking them, and making sure they were getting the right person. But I'm sure that's all going out the window as Miller and Noem mash up ICE with CBP and push anyone who stands in the way of such a transformation out.

When all is done, the only way to fix those agency cultures will be to make them fresh as you wrote.

To start I'd can everybody hired since January 2024. Then shrinking the mandate of those agencies would significantly cut the number of positions you'd need to restaff. It's very doable.

A purge (at least) would be absolutely necessary in order to make it a functioning organization in a normal democracy.

The issue is the ICE is now turning into a personal army of Trump... an American Civil War would be the ending if they are not stopped soon.

Facial recognition isn't as reliably accurate as it needs to be in order to do this correctly. Even in controlled environments.
Facial recognition is even more unrealiable for people of color. People who pointed that out were mocked with "are you saying software is racist?", ignoring the nuances of pointing that out.

Even China has problems with their facial recognition with their OWN people... to the point that now their own workers tries to skip that...
