$100 off of ReplayTV 4000 using code: RC887965 Go to Replaytv

Unfortunately its only off of their super high priced (I'm sure very slow selling) High end Units: 4320, 4160, & 4080 which start at $999.00 Notice they didn't include the $699.00 model in their promotion. 🙁

On another note, they are supposed to be coming out with some quality lower end units : article

$100 or no, when this happens, we can get hack happy. 🙂

This is the unit I want, too bad its soo much money!
I will be nice to watch recorded shows with out comercials.

Jha Ren, you have one of these systems?!? Damn! Which one? I'd love any one of these puppies myself - but I'm not RICH! 🙁

Hey JahWren,

The website says it does not support downloading to the PC. When you say "copying them over the network to your PC to burn to SVCD/ XSVCD is nice too", are you just feeding the signal in to a capture card or have you found some way to download them to the PC without
having to recapture?

The device has been successfully hacked, so there are a few programs out there that you run on your pc, that will allow you to retrieve the mpeg files from your replaytv unit over the ethernet connection. This does not require you to open your replaytv unit. There are also some other applications, like using your pc as a file server, which will stream video to any of your replaytv units. There is a lot of discussion about this in the ReplayTV forum over at AVS Forum

edit: of course these are not listed as features on replay's website, they have enough legal troubles as it is.

I see a $100 off here, to me that is hot, any time I can save 100 bucks, I am happy, his title merely reflects the fact that a lot of people can't afford a 900 dollar video recorder tho

Nice find bro

Why not just buy dish PVR if you want to skip comercials and record live shows and such...it costs only 100 bucks..and inside is real hard drive,i think its 40gb,you can maybe add one more or something...

Maybe I'm missing something...

I just built a new pc last weekend and put in an ATI AIW Radeon 7500 ($178 at newegg). This thing does just about everything that the ReplayTV does for a fraction of the price. I'm able to pause live TV, record show to my hard drive, and even record from video tape to my hard drive.

I'll be waiting on one of these until they're $50 or $60. It could be a while, but I've got a DISH 501 to tide me over and I can already skip through commercials with that.

MesBoogie,

Its apples and oranges. Your AIW doesn't do 1/4th of what the Replays and Tivo's do. Not to say that the AIW is bad or that the opposite is also true (AIW does 4x as much as replay or tivo), it just has a completely different use than a PVR.

PVR's features lie in their ability to manage the recording of your favorite shows, actors, directors, sports teams, musicians, comedians etc. etc. etc

TheBeast, correct on all points. One addition: ReplayTV won't look totally ghetto sitting in your family room on top of the VCR. Not all of us are 19-year-old college students, after all.

That is hilarious DerProfi! Hey Loote1, you got a cool grand for very cool, but very overpriced PVR -- I know I don't, but then again I don't like to buy things unless I absolutely have to have it or I'm getting a helluva deal. I think thats why many of us frequent the HOT DEALS section. 🙂

I don't know about you, but I have an AIW Radeon (not the 7500) and that thing was good enough,
but not great. ATI can't make quality drivers and I had a hard time getting it to work. Also, I don't
want to spend time messing with bitrates, GOP structures and whatnot just to get it to capture right
without dropping frames. For the price, its great.

If the ReplayTV can do what everyone says it can (after being hacked) then this thing is 100% better than any Radeon. At least for my uses.

mmbond.

I feel you playa' but with all the bones you save from "hotties",
this should be slick as "WOW"...lol

Stay up.

ReplayTV totally changed the way I watch television. Not only do I never have to sit through commercials anymore, I never have to hunt for something to watch because at any given time I've got 30-40 hours of taped movies and shows queued up. I own two of the 3000 series (one 60 hour, one 80 hour) and once they get the price down a bit on the 4000 series I'm snapping it up. Once you have a PAUSE button on your TV, you'll never go back!

Yeah replay is awesome. I only have to watch what I like to watch, whenever I want. I own 2 3000 series units (well actually 3 but my girlfriend has the 3rd one at here place).

The 4k series is carried by amazon now. So if amazon ever has a good promotion, I plan on picking one up from there.

so you'll take the time to reply but not edit the post? i think people place different importance on communication, and i'm sorry that you don't think grammar is very important. you should try visiting some other countries... the US has by far the worst grammar, and you'll probably have a difficult time learning another language. you really need to get out of your little bubble, my friend.
