Russian Predicts Global Cooling?http://upi.com/NewsTrack/view.php?StoryID=20060207-041447-2345r

This Scientist predicts a mini ice age within 15 to 20 years based on statistical analysis of Solar activity?

Sounds like a far fetched idea or a practical analysis based in fact?

Possibly, or maybe I think. . . hmm. . . I just don't know which scientists to believe anymore. . . .

help!

Who is going to be the first one to talk about CO2 emissions without reading the article? *waits*

I dunno. The term "Russian Scientist" is an oxymoron to me but his science is probably as sound as the GW nuts. For whatever that's worth...

Does anyone know if his research has been translated into English? and If so, where it is located?

He/She is listed as a Staff Scientist.

We'll have to wait and see if there's anything to it. I have serious doubts though.

I don't see what's so controversial about lower solar output causing a cooler climate. Although I'd always heard that ice ages were brought on by minor decreases in the angle of the earth's axis (but I could be wrong).

Either way we're about due for another one based on previous patterns. Maybe it'll wait until after we run out of fossil fuels in 100 years or so.

Could we somehow offset the iceage by increasing greenhouse gasses? I.E gather the most obese people into a giant horde, and fart nonstop, this way creating an unfathomable cloud of methane that would heat up the earf?

You should be doubtfull, I dont' believe they can acurately predict solar patterns. In fact they are probably as good as predicting earthquakes (which is they aren't acurate).

The last mini ice age was just a century or few ago, I don't see how it's impossible. But I simply don't know enough about climatology to make any predictions myself.
