Debating between the following motherboards:

Asus P4C800-E DELUXE $179

ABIT "IC7-G MAXII ADVANCE $124

Does anyone think it is worth the extra money for the ASUS? No overclocking planned. It is for a p4 3.0c. Thanks for the opinions...

Personally I went with the ASUS because I prefer the brand. I know lots of folks here use the IC7 as well tho, so it depends on your own values. For me the P4C800-E has been a great mobo so far.

I also prefer the Asus mobo. I built my friend a gamer with the Asus P4C800-E DELUXE over a year ago and it is been a great motherboard for him. He is a serious gamer and has had no problems what so ever. I built it with a P4 2.8 Ghz/800 Mhz processor, 128MB ATI 9800 XT video, 1 GB (512x2) Corsair LLPro Cas 2.0 memory, and a Thermaltake aluminum case w/480w ps. This baby runs cool, fast, and very stable.

If your not gonna overclock, I dont' see a reason to go for the more expensive board, although I have been quite happy with every asus board I have used.
 
The P4C800-E as much as i like asus, has Vcore fluctuation problems when overclocking. It can severely limit your OC unless you do the Vdroop mod which voids your warrenty.

It is a very high quality board otherwise and has no problems at stock speeds. Id say go with your preferred brand as they are both great designs.
 
The Abit is fine. I have a Asus P4P800 its a good board, but that Abit board is just a sweet and lot lot less money.
 
Thanks a lot for the opinions. In the end, I decided to go with the Abit because of the price. Hopefully I won't regret it. I just want something that is stable, as I am not going to OC it. Most people would recommend an Intel board for stability, but that is what it is replacing. A bad Intel board.
