Eye bee here in the Midwest.
EE-BOO-profen. But i'll stoop down to your level and pronounce it EYE-BOO-profen if i'm at a pharmacist in England.
The trick is to understand that medical terms, including the retail names of medicine, are based on Latin.
I think it is regional, like I have a Michigan accent, which I did not know existed till moving south. We reduce words down to as few syllables as possible. But I digress, I just call it Motrin.i am watching a video by a guy who i thought knew a lot about medicine. but he keeps pronounce ibuprofen as "eye-bee-profen".
i've heard some other people do this and i wondered if it was common or perhaps regional.
how do you say it?
Where I live now, every soda or cola or "pop" as how I know it, is called "coke". You goto a restaurant and they will ask if you want a coke, then they will follow up with we have Mtn Dew, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi ect.
How? How do you go to eye-bee when the letters are ibu?i am watching a video by a guy who i thought knew a lot about medicine. but he keeps pronounce ibuprofen as "eye-bee-profen".
