Planning on buying an Ibook... Not for any intensive purposes. Might do some video editing on it though.

Comes standard with 256. Was going to go up to 384.. I dont need to go up to 640 do I?

Is 256MB two 128's or 1 128?

First 128 on motherboard and extra 128 chip?

notfred or Eug might know.

512 will give you a better experience, but I don't think you can get a 512 config, so go to 640. Mac OS X loves RAM, but it can run easily on 256 and give nice performance, but the more the better. Plus the difference between 384 and 640 is only 100 dollars, so it's not bad.

I would max out the RAM (640MB).

OS X, while not a RAM hog, functions so much better when there is RAM to spare.

128 on board.

640 = an extra 150......

And you think its worth it? Even though I don plan to do anything to heavy on this?

Agreed. Do yourself a favor and get the 640.

I think it is definitely worth it. I ran my old PowerBook with 256MB of RAM, and I went to 768. I wasn't doing any video editing, etc and I saw a noticeable difference.

It is a VERY small price to pay for the increased performance you will get.

Much. Go to Crucial.com and get it there or find the cheapest place online. It's just a standard 512MB PC2100 SODIMM.

The beauty of the Airport card is that it installs inside the iBook. No PCMCIA card hanging out the side of the notebook.

I'd say so. FWIW, I love my Powerbook (17"). I have had a 12" iBook and 15" TiBook and I loved them both.

You will not regret going with the iBook.

Get 640MB. For the 14" iBooks, upgrading from 256MB standard to 384MB is almost pointless.

FWIW, the iBook G4 will (eventually) take a 1GB SODIMM for 1.125 GB RAM total. ;)
