IBM Thinkpad T40 question: Is there a way to turn off speedstep?

I would like to turn off the speedstep option if this is possible so that I can have the laptop running at full speed even if running off the battery. Is this possible?

If you are using IBM's Battery MaxiMiser Utility, you can set the power scheme to 'Disable Shut-off Timers'. Or you can create a new scheme and have it keep the battery at maximum while on battery.
